eh, the biologist scenes are hampered by the addition of some sample collection and things that don't ever really pay off in the film in any way as well as still not answering WHY he's terrified of dead bodies but excited by living aliens...i would have just cherry-picked the line of dialogue about how he's excited by the "find of the century" in that we've never found lifeforms on other planets.
i know what i just said flies in the face of my excitement thing, but no matter how it's sliced in what i've actually seen FILMED, there's no justification for his freakout over the pile of dead bodies and then subsequent elation at finding a living creature. there's a line or two of dialogue in the first draft of the script that explain it better, but i haven't seen those filmed at all.
and honestly, while the holloway scenes add more to the WHY of his character, he comes off like more of a whiny, petulant, snot and a jackass to boot. i'm glad they were cut because they make him seem like such an unlikable prick.
