This movie SUCKS.

It's just a War on Terror movie, but they decided to slap the name "Monsters" on it and decided that instead of having insurgents fighting against the US troops trying to overthrow dictators and upset the balance of political power, it's insurgents mad that the US is policing the world and helping to kill alien monsters. But it's still just a really terrible Iraq War movie.

And the characters are awful, and the voice overs suck, and the dialogue is brutal, and I thought the name "Dark Continent" meant this was going to be in AFRICA, not the Middle East, which is ASIA.

There's a potentially REALLY interesting idea at the core of this movie (why are we busy killing each other when there are MILLIONS of aliens actually SPREADING across the world and threatening our very existence?) but it's never touched on at all. Instead we get a bunch of awful dudebros talking about how awesome they are at sex and being badass. And then it tries to get emotional at the end, but who the hell cares? These characters all suck and there's NO reason to be invested in anything at all. And then it ends. Honestly, I don't even know what MFW was talking about saying it picks up in the last half hour. It certainly becomes more pretentious, and it definitely floats up more good ideas that it never does anything with, but it's not like anything escalates to anything.

Terrible.

I know the few people who are still interested in this won't, but I'd absolutely AVOID this.
