I still need to see the trailer for Rise, but I'm growing pretty excited about it. I loved the original series as a kid, something else I collected alongside the Godzilla flicks, and was pretty disappointed by the Tim Burton remake.

Planet was an awesome classic! Beneath was...eh...never much of a fan for it. Escape was interesting, but always felt like such a stretch (and, again, I don't like such depressing stuff). Loved Conquest! Battle was...perhaps best not to speak of Battle. ^_^() Even the TV movies were pretty good, though they ended them with such a cliffhanger!

I'm a big fan of the original series, having seen them as they came out one by one.

The new film looks like it's just no fun. As with everything these days, rather than just go with the concept, the filmmakers put all their energy into making it plausible. Why this is wrongheaded, IMO, is because it's NOT plausible, so why bother? I'd rather see a hammy actor stumble on an ape city and realize he's fu*ked than listen to the ramblings of a scientist surrounded by scientific equipment explain some impossible wonder drug. Neither is real, so I'll go with the one that gives me the most enjoyment.

New Trailer. Still looks like a fun time, probably nothing more.

Looks cool. I'll check it out just to see. This movie will be win if they use a nuke at the end though!

I'm not a Planet of the Apes fan at all, but the latest trailer (showing the apes over-running the city (and the cool shots of the gorillas)) has me sold.

I dunno, any time somebody talks up new tech and stresses how inferior old techniques are it just rubs me the wrong way. I'm still excited for the film, but I disagree with our actor friend about the makeup.

I know what he is trying to say but on some level technology was not always the focal point of the stories in older movies. Back then the story made up for it and special effects were in their infancy. People like Rick Baker were geniuses and even Peter Jackson respected him enough to be involved with King Kong in 2005. Look at the special features of the DVD in the tin case that came out. I think it is another argument but the CGI use in films is way overblown.

I have never seen a single one of these movies, so hopefully this movie will be interesting enough to get me interested in the others.
