Saw it for the 4th time last night and was finally disappointed but not because of the film but because the theatre screen was so frikkin dark it ruined numerous scenes.
Last night was the first showing I went to where it seemed like the theatre was just full of people following a trend and very little actual Batman fans. And it amazes me how many people went to see this soley on Ledger and the Joker. After the movie I heard one kid say to his friends the Joker made the movie and Batman sucked..... I nearly lost my mind, I understand that Bales voice at times can get a little over the top but come on. Have these people ever read a comic or watched one episode of BTAS? I was floored.
I'll admit it now I was one of those guys after seeing Iron Mans numbers shoot through the roof saying man, no way Batman will do that and I'm so glad I'm wrong! I knew it would do well but not this well and I hate reviews saying that this movie is all about the Joker and if hes not the screen the movie is blah... Yeah the Joker was awesome but it was Oldman and Eckhart that really made this film quality and not fluff. Oldman jumped right off the pages in look and character with Gordon and Eckhart gave me the Harvey Two Face I've been dying to see. Bale goes without saying and I was glad to see Alfred really take on the guiding light role. This movie has EVERYTHING, NOT JUST THE JOKER.
I personally believe someone else could do the Joker. Not taking anything away from ledger, it is ocar worthy but I think it can be done.
