I might argue whether PRU really "gets it" or if it's just doing what it thinks it should based on the first one.

Because PRU doesn't really GET how movies in general work, so I wonder if it 'gets' anything at all.

Hmmmm, I mean, yeah, Uprising seems fonder of the material that inspired it, but Godzilla 98 is just a far handsomer and better put together production (even if almost everything in the movie falls flat). The fondness in Godzilla 98 isn't for old kaiju movies, but rather for 70s disaster movies, which colors so much of Emmerich and Devlin's work.
