Has it occurred to anyone else that some of those mosquitoes trapped in amber would also carry the DNA of prehistoric mammals? Or are mammoths and saber-toothed tigers just not as cool as dinosaurs?

I thought it was fun. It's basically a monster movie. The series has moved beyond attempting to portray the animals accurately, which is kind of a shame, but I couldn't help but be reminded by Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster by that crazy fight at the end. I never would have imagined we'd get three big monster movies back-to-back from a company like Legendary. I almost wish I was ten years younger to really soak it all up. Then next year we've got Toho's new Godzilla, Pac Rim 2 a year later, Legendary's Godzilla sequel after that and the inevitable Jurassic sequels within that time...

^ Yes, Kong: Skull Island the same year as PacRim2!

Even though I found Jurassic World underwhelming I'll probably see it again to support the genre (yeah, like it needs more support), and will attempt to go in with lowered expectations and an attempt to just focus on the creatures. Part of the problem for me was that Jurassic Park is a masterpiece of popcorn entertainment efficiency in regards to characters and story, and Jurassic World just took all those same character and story elements and shuffled 'em around for their plot. Not only were these elements clumsily executed, but it constantly reminds you of the original where the same things were done better.

So, with its momentum, it should break Avenger's record and hit #3 top grossing film. Is there any expectation for it to take over either Titanic or Avatar's record?

Finally got to see this last night. Had a blast. It's not a "great film" per se, but it was a tremendously fun big budget b-movie. it really does feel like we've entered a second golden age of monster/dinosaur movies. During the awesome final fight I actually found myself thinking "this must've been what it felt like to see Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster or DAM in theaters on initial release!" It was so much fun.

I AM curious to see how it holds up on multiple viewings, but I have a feeling it'll do just fine for me personally. I mean, MOST of the movies I watch over and over have cheap scripts and b-grade acting so it's not like I need this to be Casablanca on the second watch. But I actually enjoyed the characters and found them all pretty relatable. Even the overweight gung-ho know-it-all redneck military contractor guy. I hated him, but you were SUPPOSED to hate him. And the thing is, I've met guys in real life JUST LIKE THAT GUY here in Texas. I can't stand those guys in real life and I couldn't stand him in the movie. But he NAILED that character archetype. And his final scene was all the more satisfying for it.

And even three weeks in our theater was jam-packed. The audience really got in to the movie cheering and laughing and gasping in all the right places. There was even applause at the end. So much fun!

I watched this again on Saturday (this time with Family). I enjoyed it. It's not overly deep, but I don't know that it needs to be. I still had a tremendous amount of fun, and I can't wait to own this on blu-ray.

DAT FINAL FIGHT IS STILL GREAT.

Some of those most attended films have enjoyed various re-releases over the years. I'd be curious to see the list taking out those re-releases

Finally saw this. Wife & I both loved it. Predictable, yes somewhat. Still one of the best B movies masquerading as an A-list film that I've seen in some time. Will be picking this up on Blu for sure. The final battle really put me in the mind of how awesome it would be to see a big budgeted live-action Ultraman. Japanese controlling everything but American F/X house handling the CGI. Also got me pumped for the next US Godzilla.

I'm pretty much always gonna be on board for more dinosaurs (please read that word in Mr. DNA's voice) and I definitely enjoy Jurassic World, it's not a great or particularly memorable movie and I hope we can get something more inventive and well, better, this time around.

It might be too much to hope, considering World made a billion plus and thus it's safer to just kinda keep rehashing, but maybe they'll up the budget a little and we can get some practical effects this time?

I'm aware there was one shot. My point was there could have been a LOT more: the baby trikes in the petting zoo area, the raptor heads when they were getting examined (and having the cameras strapped to them) and I'm sure some other examples that don't spring to mind readily given the rather forgettable nature of the film. (Oh, just thought of one: maybe an actual park gate instead of a CGI one?)

I found the DEVOTION to CGI in a Jurassic Park film to be borderline sacrilege (and at the very least just incredibly lazy)
