Hard to believe anybody would have the gall to remake Videodrome... especially as an "action thriller" with the writer of Transformers and Reindeer Games behind it.

Universal just can't seem to revive their horror properties properly. Look at the Wolfman and the Thing.

To think, Universal thinks something like THIS is worth more than At The Mountains of Madness.

In addition to negative script reviews and Hugh Laurie leaving, Robocop is having a hell of a time:

[quote] Padilha’s close friend and fellow Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles (‘City of God,’ ’360′) spoke recently to South American web site Cinemacom Rapadura and revealed some details from conversations he’s had with Padilha about the ‘RoboCop’ reboot:

I talked to José Padilha for a week by phone. He will begin filming Robocop. [b]He is saying that it is the worst experience. For every 10 ideas he has, 9 are cut. Whatever he wants, he has to fight. “This is hell here,â€

Hmm.. Maybe Laurie made a smart move here? :? I don't know how this remake will turn out, but so far it doesn't seem promising.

In a surprising and actually pretty cool turn of events, Michael Keaton of all people has replaced Hugh Laurie as the villain in Robocop.

Keaton is one of those actors that is actually really good but is rarely fully utilized in a movie, so I think a villain is a cool part for him.

Michael Keaton can play a GREAT villain.
What's that one movie where he's a killer or something trying to escape from death row or something when he volunteers to donate a kidney to a dying kid...or something? He was good in that.

Another writer attached to The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Sigh...wasn't The Invasion supposed to be horrible?
