Gadot's "...but it's pretty dark." comment is concerning. I've not seen BvS yet, but from my nephew's comments it seems that they (the director, the suits, etc.) wanted to cram in 2 or 3 stories instead of just telling one story.
I hope the suits making all the decisions for the DC movies finally see that "dark 'n' gritty" is not the end all be all of superhero movies (plenty of people have been suitably vocal on this issue for years now). Yes, "dark" does work for certain stories, but there is no need to make every story for every character "dark 'n' gritty". Even the visual palette WB has determined for their DC movies is dreary, and people have taken issue with it starting with Man of Steel.
C'mon WB decision makers, the people behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe are doing a lot things great and you aren't; take a good look at the things the MCU is doing well in adapting their characters to film and do those things too.
