Viral thingy, I guess, for Dawn.
Nothing new (some nice shots of the post virus city sets though)
I still haven't read the prequel novel as I'm saving that for a little closer to the film's release.

Looking back at this, there has been only two features of this franchise I really, really liked. 1968 and Escape from 1971. 2011 movie was good, even if it becomes somewhat a predictable actioner in the end. But at least it was not another duplicate of the Burton film.

I might not read the novel until AFTER I see the movie. I kinda don't want to be sitting there thinking "Well, this makes more sense because I read the novel" and stuff, and alter how I might view the movie as a film on its own.

Does that make any sense?

If not, then shut up. I'm super excited for this movie, it actually has the potential to be my favorite of the year.

I'm avoiding as much as I can on this movie just like I did with Godzilla. I hope it does not disappoint.

However, is James Franco not back in this one?

Not exactly POTA but in my research of news on the film I stumbled across this, also from Fox, which made the possibility and scariness of this film shoot up in tandem:

Teaching each other years after Idi Amin's forces taught them initially...not good.

So, the live-action TV series is actually not bad. It's not great, but it's an adventure-of-the-week bit of fun.

I guess it was placed in an unfavorable time slot (up against Sanford and Son) and the head of CBS rather shortsightedly said that though the show really appealed to kids, children weren't a demographic he wanted to target (because apparently he didn't know who buys merchandise).

Flipside, the cartoon TV series, Return to the Planet of the Apes, is ATROCIOUS. The animation is laughable, the voice acting is terrible, the writing is atrociously pun-filled, and the lack of creativity is palpable. Horrible.

I really didn't care for the tv show all that much, and the cartoon, while poorly produced, plays with more of the mythology and makes it a touch more interesting story-wise. I think the television show is mostly worth it to watch Roddy McDowall as Galen and Mark Lenard as Urko.

Three short films that serve as "here's what happened to humanity during the flu outbreak" prequels. Personally, I found the year 10 short pretty good but the other two fairly lacking.

I can't wait to go see this damn dirty movie.

Of all the big genre films I've seen this summer Dawn of the POTA has got to be the most fulfilling. A beautiful, brilliant sequel that might just be superior to an already brilliant reboot... I'm more than glad Reeves and Bomback are sticking around for the next (final?) film.
