When I first heard about this movie, I thought it was a unique concept, but was it workable? Judging from this second trailer and all of the positive vibes this film received at Toronto Film Festival, it looks like this might be a winner and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

If Funimation gives the Godzilla anime film a release similar to Shin last year, coupled with Kong and this film we'll have a chance to see three new kaiju/giant monster films in theaters this year.

Saw this last night at SxSW. It's a fantastic movie and I suspect a lot of the fandom will hate it.

That's a great kaiju design; really distinctive and full of personality. I like how they gave it a feminine feel, but without resorting to anything sexualised.

Now cue 200 pages of complaints about elephant feet.

Woah woah woah. There's no love for this new monster movie starring Anne Hathaway? I know it's not a traditional monster movie and more of a comedy and romance, but the concept itself is awesome. The reviews are generally positive, too. I'm panning to watch it with my wife once we find a theater showing it.

This film was very unusual. For the most part, it is a relationship, or rather a "troubled relationship" movie. There were twists that I did not see coming, and some scenes (in regards to Jason Sudakis' character) that went rather quickly, that I may have to see again just to fully comprehend it.

All in all, I enjoyed it. Guys, don't expect a monster mashing movie throughout however. Yes, one will see the kaiju, and in some very funny bits as well. The principals Anne Hathaway and Sudaiks were fine. In regards to Hathway's character, Gloria, you can feel for her plight, but at the same time, she is not the most sympathetic character either.

Using Leonard Maltin's ratings system, I give this *** out of **** stars.

Yeah, we went in fully knowing this isn't a straight up kaiju film. I think the trailers made it pretty clear. It is as much a romantic comedy as it is a monster movie. It's funny, story driven monster movie unlike anything out there. It might not be everyone's cup of tea. Not recommended for children. Partly because it's R rated, and also deals with adult subjects such as relationships.

Anne Hathaway's amazing in this.

Would be hilarious if this crossed over with some of the modern big name monster movies. Anna Hathaway Vs Pacific Rim Jagaers!
