^Although it removes an incredible character beat I thought it must've been even scarier just cutting from Karloff smiling to the father carrying the girl's corpse through the street.

I don't see the point in making the Creature a big dinosaur thing with a tail.

Universal has staked out the date of Friday, April 21, 2017, for its second monster franchise film.

Would be cool to see what could be done with these characters.

I was much more excited when it seemed like the movies would all be horror films, but it seems like they're going for a more action-oriented style, akin to the Brendan Fraser Mummy films.

I actually like those films for what they are, but we've already got Action Movie Cinematic Universe in Marvel...a shared horror universe would be much more appealing and fresh.
Now, we don't know for SURE that these are going to be action-y, but it seems more likely than it did when we first heard about it and that's what's dampening my excitement.

Dracula Untold pulled a very similar box office to Wolfman which cost more than twice as much to make...I'd say as long as they keep the budgets in check this can survive a few misses.

A new Wolfman? I kind of liked the last one, but I suspect this will have to be a modern adaptation to distance itself from that film. Which is less interesting than gothic horror stuff. To me, anyhow.

Color me surprised. I would have bet on Frankenstein or the Creature getting the second film slot.

Van Helsing could be a stealthy way to redo Dracula after the lukewarm reaction to Dracula Untold.

reshoots, rewrites and an out of control budget doomed it before it even had a chance.

I like the idea of an R-rated Universal Monster universe and would prefer to see films more like 'The Wolfman' than 'Dracula Awakens', but we'll see what they do in "phase 1"

As long as the monsters are still the antagonists I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. I'd consider the first Stephen Sommers Mummy flick an action movie instead of horror. If they try to make them basically super heroes like that Frankenstein vs the Gargoyles movie, then I'm out.
