I think the most appalling part of the trailer isn't that it looks necessarily bad, it's that it looks like everything else. One of the things I loved so much about the original RoboCop was how it was so different from typical 80s, action fare. Sure the gore was there, but it's all about the way violence was used, the satire behind it and the characters' questionable, even laughable, decisions. It was simply a different kind of action movie. This doesn't look like a different action movie...
If it were anything else I might be gung-ho about it, but it looks like it's stripping much of what made RoboCop so compelling. There are glimmers of hope there-- Michael Keaton looks promising and the family angle is something I always wished was explored more. The rest? Eh...
