Surprised no one has mentioned or commented on this yet, but I am personally pretty amped that Michael Douglas has been added to the cast of ANT-MAN, as Hank Pym, no less! At least we know a bit more now than before, in that the film will feature BOTH incarnations of the character. I think we can expect to see some sharply-written (and acted) interplay between a world-weary Hank Pym and cocky young upstart, Scott Lang. Count me as offically excited about this film. Well actually the promo clip, which I finally got around to seeing recently, got me mildly interested, but this choice bit of casting news really puts this film on the map for me now. Wonder who they'll cast as The Wasp? I figure it's safe to assume that since Hank Pym will definitely be in the film then his wife would be, too.

Very neat. I know nothing about the character, but Wright says we'll have flashbacks to the original Ant Man in the '60s that will be Silver Age comic style.

That sounds awesome.

So after 8 years of working on this with Marvel, Wright has left the production due to creative differences.

What sh*t-tastic news.

I'm way less interested in this now. I mean I dig Ant-Man, but...

Marvel... you're not fooling anybody when you say that what happened was 'creative differences.' You're lying. It wasn't scheduling, it wasn't a family emergency. What's really happening... is that you're hiding something in there...

AND IT'S GONNA SEND US BACK TO THE STONE AGE!

The movie is still on track for a July 17, 2015 release.

In a surprise announcement, Edgar Wright has left Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man” as its director, the company said Friday.

Can Edgar Wright take his script to WB and make the same movie, but have it be The Atom?

Beyond disappointing. This easily could have been one of the finest superhero films ever. Looks like we're in for something much 'safer.'

While I did want to see an Edgar Wright Ant-Man, reading in between the lines above, I'm wondering if that Ant-Man didn't quite fit with the established, and more importantly, planned Marvel movie universe. The movies now are such that they can't quite be their own bubble. Its also the reason why Iron Man 2, a very lackluster sequel, is made better by every Marvel movie that has followed it.

It doesn't really matter. I don't care who you are, you cannot make Ant Man cool.

It may not make him any friends amongst big-wigs, but Wright standing up for the integrity of his work makes me like him even more.

Are we airing are (possibly unpopular) comic superhero opinions, now? Okay, all right. I'm game.

I do not care for the Green Lantern. I'm sorry. Martian Manhunter is way cooler (eat it, Goyer!).

Also, I don't care for the X-Men as a whole. I like Nightcrawler and Kitty Pryde, but that's it! I don't care what anyone thinks! Fight me if you must!
