Just because something isn't doesn't mean it isn't scary.

There are plenty of movies that are terrifying from the psychological perspective or are just dripping with atmosphere and are perfectly scary.

Jaws was originall rated PG! (In today's world it would be a PG-13 film, but the rating didn't exist at the time.)

It just seems implausible to me that a movie could be considered to be so intense as to be R without gore, adult language, nudity, and the like.

Am I the only person who thinks this??

I mean, things like Archer and South Park and Family Guy are on TV and regularly push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable. Even the stuff that is marketed towards children has moments of intensity or questionable content (like the toys almost dying in Toy Story, or innuendos/references to language in other family films). How can a movie be considered to be too "adult" without overt sexuality, gore, or language???
