From The Playlist:

Considering what Pacific Rim will be about, it would be an injustice for Japan not to play a role in the movie.

Yeah. It's so strange but everything, minus maybe the amount of water involved, has the marks of a kaiju making landfall. These people are living Pacific Rim and a number of other things we'd consider scifi scenarios.

So forgive me if this has been posted already but I don't think I've yet to read a synopsis this detailed yet and after this, I have to say I'm pretty crazy excited.

Holy spit.

It sounds like a massive kaiju/Ultraman/anime tribute!

As much as it sucks that Mountains fell through, this project sounds awesome and Guillermo del Toro is the perfect choice for it. I'm excited.

So LP's doing this movie where a giant monster attacks Japan and doing a Godzilla movie? I dunno.

If when these giant mechanized suits are in flight mode they're referred to as "Jet Jaegers" I say something's up!

Mildly amusing but I'm perfectly happy with these being entirely separate films. I don't need Gorath and Mothra Vs. Godzilla to be sequels to each other either.

I really like the concept of another universe being the source of these kaiju.
