ID4 is pretty awful (I didn't even like it that much when it was originally released). No way I'd ever bother with a 3D release.

This is hilarious and all too true. I know it is cool right now for a certain breed of geek to rage against the Nolan Batman films, but at least they don't look/feel the same as every other blockbuster that comes out these days. One thing I love about Nolan is his refusal to do anything in 3-D and the fact that he is a major supporter of 35mm over digital. He thinks playing around with stuff like IMAX formats is a lot more interesting.

I like when guys like Scorsese, Scott, etc. use 3-D for artistic and real film making reasons, but this video shows just how much more 3D is being used for the WRONG reasons right now. I hope it dies a slow death.

I can honestly say I've never seen a movie in 3D, not even Avatar, which I saw on a 2D theater screen. That's not to say I'm outright opposed to it; I've just never seen it in action. But going off everything I've heard, I figure that if they're going to use it, it should be an integral part of the filming process rather than some post-conversion hackjob used as a gimmick. Seems that not many directors share the same opinion.
