The way I see it, the filmmaker's got it right the first time. One of the most prevelant ways to go in Hollywood these days is to remake classic films, be it because producers want to pay tribute to their favorite films, they want to cash in an a particular legacy, or, they're simply running out of ideas. Whichever it may be, this is something that is going to happen for now. So we might as well try to find the positive in it. In the case of Peter Jackson's King Kong we should be grateful that a talented director, with a healthy devotion to the original film was helming the remake. If I recall, Jackson didn't want to make the film, because he felt, as alot of people do, that a remake of the classic Kong was unnecessary. However, Universal was going to make the film with or without him anyway, so he figured if anyone is going to do it, he might as well be the one. As for the film itself, my feelings haven't really changed much. I still think that it's a really good film, even though the story itself doesn't warrant that much detail. Like I said, Cooper/Shoedsack/O'Brien etc. got it right the first time. However, I think it's great that there are those who love the film enough to want to pay some kind of tribute to it.
