Any word on Mark Hamill? They might have to do some sort of cgi work on Hamill, but I would think getting him on board would be moreso a top priority than Ford.

This news puts my mind at rest with the time period they are going to go with.

I believe the story will be ......(HIGHLIGHT)

The fall to the darkside of Han Solos and Leias son, Jacen Solo. There's PLENTY of flashback stuff to connect with Darth Vader to keep a real connection to the previous trilogy. This was a 8 or 9 book story.. and a pretty good one I thought. I don't thing everything will be exact with the books(to make it fit into a movie trilogy), but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the route they go with.

Want Luke to be in this... so hopefully they can figure something out with Hamill. Carrie Fisher looks nothing like Leia... so I don't know what they can do with her. Harrison Ford just looks like a old Han Solo... so he's good.

I can't imagine Mark Hammill or Carrie Fisher for that matter being too busy for this.

Lucas met with Hammil and Fisher last summer and talked about it already anyway. I'm pretty sure they'll be locked in for all three.

Don't see why Hammil will need any CG work. I'm assuming Luke got old just like he did. If anything, the old timers might be asked to hit the gym and drop a few pounds, but that's about it.

Ugh, seeing the old cast return is really the LAST thing I want from a sequel trilogy. As many others have already said, you've got an entire GALAXY to work with and you can only find a handful of people with interesting enough stories to tell? I mean, the old Han Solo Adventures trilogy by Brian Daley were awesome, partly because he nailed the character of Han Solo on the head, but largely because he went to a totally different part of the galaxy where the Empire didn't have a presence. We had new adventures in new places with new people, but it still managed to really capture the proper "feel" of Star Wars and it was fantastic!! Why can't they do that with the new films? Grrrrr!

I don't mind new people new places for any films they may do that aren't part of the main Episodes, but I kind of feel that since 1-6 focus on the Skywalkers that I'd sort of like to see subsequent episodes focus on them. That's Star Wars to me. THEM CRAZY SKYWALKERS.

I think a lot of that may also do with the fact I really don't read the novels or comics.

Disney should rechristen the franchise 'Them Crazy Skywalkers.'

The prequel scores are also much better than the films would lead you to believe. But the decision to let Ben Burtt (an incredible sound designer) do the sound editing resulted in horribly chopped up and piecemeal use of the work Williams put in. I guess that what happens though when you let a sound effects guy edit the music... I've read somewhere that Williams was furious with what they did to his The Phantom Menace score and that was a big reason that he wrote a LOT less new music for the next two.

Just listened to a few cues from the prequel scores. I rescend my last comment about the prequel scores being bad.

Am I the only who can't get overly excited about Williams doing the music? I thought the music for the prequels got weaker with each movie and none of his recent stuff has really stuck.

Besides, the guy is 81, by the time he'd get the call to score the film his Force ghost might reply. I like Williams as much as the next guy, but I'd actually be far more interested if someone else tackled it.

Honestly, Williams isn't going to be alive to do it forever (as Gman2887 points out), so eventually somebody else is going to have to take on the task, and this break in the nature of Star Wars seems like the perfect time to do it.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Giacchino is Abrams go-to composer.

Williams doesn't even orchestrate his compositions anymore.

He's old as hell. I'd like to see him return, but I also feel like he's getting a little too old and probably won't be able to hang on for all three episodes.
