I saw this the other night.

It's abysmal. So...basically what I expected. Over the top CGI action that was entertaining in spurts mixed with awful dialogue and very poor acting. Meh.

Personally I think the 2014 film is the best of the franchise. Just my opinion.

I have very fond memories of the first two Turtles films. Maybe I'll check them out again.

The designs for Turtles 14 are simply terrible. They're basically Hulked out turtles with noses. Meh. I can enjoy mindless action films the same way I can enjoy a few things about GFW or Bayformers, but this movie was atrociously bad with the exact same character archetypes as Bay's Transformer films. Typical hot girl/moronic guy relationship interspersed with awkward moments coupled with a story partially taken from their respective franchises (Transformers/Turtles). If you take the main human element from either series and switch them, you'd basically have the the same movie.

the new film isn't the worst of the series...but that's only because part 3 is AGGRESSIVELY bad. I mean, you can complain about whatever you want in this movie...god knows there's enough to complain about, but it's not as offensively lazy as part 3.

I'd rank 'em:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze
TMNT (2007)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3

TMNT loses out to part 2 because it doesn't really know what it's trying to do...reboot, sequel...it's not QUITE sure. Also, Karai is an off-putting character because we have no idea who she is or where she comes from or what or why or how or anything about her and the movie leaves off with some sequel bait that's never fulfilled. Secret of the Ooze just hangs together as a movie and a story a little bit better, but both are appropriately fun. For me the difference between those two movies is the closest gap on my list. Everything else is basically rock solid set in stone.
