So we have Plastic Face from Bayformers, the Banker from The Dark Knight, and four really terrible looking CGI'ed turtles. Hey, at least Fox tried to show a second of emotion in the last scene of the trailer. That is more than she did in the entire Bayformer stuff.

William Fichtner is a fine actor, and has done more than just the banker from The Dark Knight. His presence is probably the only thing that gives me remote hope I'll enjoy this.

^hehe.

But seriously, it throws the whole look of the face off. Among all the other little things that are irksome (like Donatello having little machinery all over his shell so that you know he's "techie"), the noses are the big thing that people will grab onto rather than point out the fifteen other things that could be nitpicked. And Fichtner is pretty good with accents, but they just said, "Nah, just speak normal. Don't bother ACTING, this is not that kind of movie."

And it's honestly easier to just say, "Those noses look stupid" than to go on some diatribe against the state of blockbuster cinema in 2014 wherein every single film looks like this. It looks so much like a Transformers movie, it robs me of feeling any excitement.

I'm not blown away by the first trailer, but I have no problem with it either. The new designs look fine to me. Yes, it looks like every other modern blockbuster, but don't forget that the original Ninja Turtles movie looked like every other grimy 80s action movie. That didn't stop it from being a lot of fun.

I'm reserving judgement on this one until we see how well the characters' personalities come through.

I think they work better fighting shadow crime in the shadows..not big spectacular exploding buildings and globe trotting

Jeremy Jahns pretty much summed up my issues with this trailer in his review of it.

You know, I was looking at a still of Michelangelo's close up and it struck me that it's not the nose that makes it look so weird. Yeah, the nose is a bit odd, and the eyes are also very awkwardly strange. But what really throws off the whole face, at least to me, is the fact that they have very human lips. I dunno, it's just really weird and off putting. The whole face is just odd, but the lips are the straw that broke the camels back IMO.

Guaranteed they are soldiers who were mutated by the ooze, theres no reason they should have such human features otherwise. Complete butchering

It's the nose and lips. Why do they have lips?!

Yeah one of my friends said he was really bothered by them having lips too, and looking at those 'redesigned' images, it really does seem like it would have been the simplest thing to make them look a lot better and more turtle-like. The Leo ones especially are a definite improvement.

Those re-designs are flat out perfect.

My only guess to why they have noses and lips is that since Shredder was talking about how he needed to "create heroes" that the Ooze is a super solider mutagen and it gets experimented on four members of the footclan and turns them into the TMNT. It otherwise makes no sense to add such characteristics that turtles (real or tmnt) have never had.

How is it terrifying? It's what the turtles have ALWAYS looked like in every other incarnation.
