I love Escape, so very very much. Not as much as Conquest, which, regardless may be my favorite (not best, just favorite). Escape probably comes 2nd, really. I love the comedy and darkness of it all. It's a weird beast, to be sure, but an enjoyable one.

Kind of makes me want to pop in my blu-ray.

Apparently James Franco was supposed to die at the end of Rise and they even shot and edited it with that ending (which remained the final ending until July, only about a month before the actual release date!)

I actually like the theatrical ending more. I don't see how a "NOOOO" ending with Franco getting in the way of a bullet is any better. Since Franco (as the article points out) doesn't matter much one way or another by the third act of the movie, I don't really see this as being a super intense or emotional ending or how it is an improvement over the one we got. It isn't like the ending they used was all sunshine and rainbows and buttercups. It was downbeat enough. Although I do hope the original is on the Blu-Ray release.

Yeah he is kind of irrelevant at that point. Plus the public does not know who he is. The apes escaping happens so fast in the movie no one really knows what happened.

I'm planning on getting a BR soon, so I might just wait until that happens.

And I agree with you about the Tim Burton remake; it was pretty dumb. Rise is absolutely miles better than that one.

Just re-watched this and will be ordering the box set of the originals soon as I haven't seen any of them completely through. I know I know.. shame on me lol

One thing I found a little odd then from when I first saw it.... When Ceasar and the apes break out, theres about 20 of them MAYBE but yet when they are on the hill there looks to be 50-100 and this is before they go to the zoo to break some out.... Um huh lol
