I thought Rejects actually toned it down from House and was a good example of how to make a gory movie without overdoing the gore...
I mean, think about it...he peels the guys face off and puts it on his wife, but the only thing we see from that is Otis comin at the guy with a knife and say he's not done with him yet
the crazy cop nails the people to chairs and hits 'em with staples but we never see the nails ripping through hands or people pulling staples out...it's a lot of implied gore and it makes you think you've seen more than you have
which I personally get a kick out of...let my imagination make me cringe rather than a disgusting image
not to mention (with Rejects) a lot of the dumbed down dialogue was intentional as well as the ridiculous names...you think their real names were mother firefly and tiny and captain spaulding? they probably took those names as part of their mentality...i just thought that Rejects was very well done and the quick pace of the movie made it just fly by
i agree with a lot of your Halloween complaints, and as i've said, i feel like Rob took a step backward in his development during the movie and I wish he would concentrate on his own ideas because it seems when he tries too hard to do remakes (halloween, and c'mon we all can see the obvious similarities between TCM and House) he falls into being too much of a fanboy and not letting his own imagination do the walking...
