Turns out the idiot driver delivered it to the wrong apartment.

A neighbor the other day brought it over to me. In fact, they delivered it to an apartment a block down the street. I am so going to make sure the driver gets fired because he is a fing moron.
Anyway, I have watched the first three so far and they have been a mixed bag. The first one was incredible, simply incredible. The score was excellent, the effects pretty good, the story was unique and well acted (well, except for the girl, but thankfully, she did not need to talk), and the opening had me wondering what was going to happen at every interval. It sucks for the crew girl though, as all she got to do was lay there asleep and then be dead in the next scene. Another thing is the video quality on the BD is just plain gorgeous. It looks like it was a movie filmed more recently. My only complaint is how abrupt the ending was. It just seemed off. I give it a defiite 5/5 nonetheless.
Beneath the Planet of the Apes though was down right dreadful. The plot was stupid, the girl had more screen time (which was not good), putting Charleston into a second rate character was lame (yes, I watched the documentary that talked about why they did it, but it did not make it any less lame), and the new guy was one dimensional. All they did was take Taylor and give him a new name, it was stupid. However, the worst part was the entire mutant subplot and the whole mind control crap. There was nothing shocking in the movie, they were just pooping out a sequel because the first one was so successful. I'm going to be generous and give this movie a 1/5 because of the NYC scenery and the gorillas were pretty cool.
Finally, the last one I have watched is Escape, which was not as bad as Beneath, but still not that good. It had some really great moments in it, but the movie ran at the pace of a slug. Its story could have been told in less than an hour, none of the humans were likable outside of the circus owner, and the entire concept just came out weird. I do love the line Cornelius makes when the council asks if he can talk to, but other than that, it was kind of dumb. The make up on Zira was also starting to wear as she looked extremely old in this movie compared to Cornelius. However, like I said, it was not bad, but it wasn't that good either. I give it a 2.5/5.
Tomorrow I'm going to watch the fourth one and then probably the fifth one on Sunday.
So far, I have mixed thoughts on if this set was worth the $56 I paid for it given that the first movie was really the only one I thought was truly groundbreaking. On the other hand, it came with an incredible book that is just chock full of information. Of course, then I look at the assnine way Fox has the discs held onto the packaging and scream "WHY?!" Maybe I'll just sell it off sometime, keep the book and get the original in a regular case for cheap.
