Finally had a chance to see this over the weekend. I thought it was good, though not necessarily great. I found it cliched-riddled, and even unsurprising, but there was enough to keep me entertained. And I liked that Stan Lee appearnce!

Oh so I did see this. It's good. Funny and bright, but somewhat predictable. It had the potential to be really unique and different, but just kinda settled for having unique characters in a one-size-fits-all kind of plot.

That's not to say the movie's bad. It's GOOD. I'd see more Big Hero 6 movies, but I don't think it's landing on my top 10 for the year or anything.

I just saw Big Hero 6 today, and I was delighted by it. The plot is very formulaic, but I don't mind that much because there's so much life & energy invested into the characters and the world-building of San Fransokyo, that I got happily caught up in the events and went along for the ride.

I hope Disney considers doing a sequel at some point down the road, because I'd like to see what the creators can do with this world and its characters.

Inspired by the Marvel Comics series of the same name, the superhero action comedy has earned more than $520 million worldwide since its November premiere.

I didn't watch the Oscars (nor pay much attention this year); the Lego movie wasn't even nominated? Wow, I thought it'd be a shoe-in for a nomination at least. So what was this Lego movie "Everything is Awesome" bit at the Oscars for then (I've not read the articles about it yet, just saw the headline and associated picture of Oprah holding a Lego Oscar)?

"Everything Is Awesome" was nominated for Best Original Song and it's standard for all of the songs nominated in that category to be performed live during the ceremony. The award went to the song "Glory" by Common and John Legend from the movie Selma.

There were some very good animated movies this year. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a fantastic sequel and was easily better than Big Hero 6. And then there's Princess Kaguya which is one of the more visually unique 2D films to come out in a long time. Big Hero 6 was fun, but I don't think I agree with its win.

The category has been basically monopolized by Disney, whether it be their features or Pixar's. Movies like "The Tale of The Princess Kaguya" or a stop-motion feature just don't stand the chance anymore. I believe Pixar has two movies coming out this year. No doubt, the statuette has already been engraved for one of them.
