If the idea behind their reappearance isn't a cheesy one, why not? It could be presented in a way that solidifies their unbreakable friendship. The Khan recall in the last film was total crap and unnecessary though.

I think Shatner is awesome and his presence in anything Star Trek would be equally awesome. BUT, I don't really want him returning to this current movie series with the new cast. I think enough is enough, let's get some great new stories with the new cast and not always rely on the old cast members.

I really enjoyed the first movie but didn't care for Into Darkness (mainly because I thought Khan was weak), now that there's a new director let's see something new and fresh and exciting.

If they ever make a new Star Trek series, I hope they keep with the original timeline and bring back Shatner for guest appearances every now and then.

"The Angry Video Game Nerd" just posted a video suggesting ten different ideas for how Shatner could return:

Shatner returns means I avoid theatrical release.

Can they please do something new? Please!??! This new Trek is nothing more than "remember this?", "remember when we did that?" and "This actor is still alive!"

Btw, Into Darkness sucked. Sucked eggs.

Could we maybe not have him write the script as well?

I love Star Trek, both the movies and the TV shows(for the most part), but I almost despise Into Darkness. In my opinion it is the worst movie of the entire series. I actually prefer Star Trek 5 over Into Darkness any day. But I am very glad that Orci is not directing, I did not like his idea of bringing back Shatner in yet another time travel storyline that's been done to death so many times. Don't get me wrong, I love the Shat, he is awesome, but I do not want to see him again in the Star Trek movies. Future TV shows yes, movies no. They have a new cast, they are great! Now let's see them continue to carry on in their own new films with fresh and exciting new tales of the Star Trek enterprise. Make it so! :D

I hope Edgar Wright gets it, because suddenly my interest in the franchise is renewed.

And now we're all sad about Orci still being involved.
