[quote="Guillermo del Toro"]“I lost a member of my family today. A man who was as present in my childhood as any of my relatives. No one will ever compare to Ray Harryhausen. He was a true pioneer, a man who took the mantle of stop-motion and elevated it to an art form. Like all great monster makers, he worked almost single-handed. He was designer, technician, sculptor, painter and cinematographer all at once. To my generation, and to every generation of monster lovers to come, he will stand above all. Forever. His monsters made millions of lonely children smile and hope for a better world- a world populated by Cyclops and griffons and the children of the Hydra. His knowledge, faith and dedication shaped generation after generation of filmmakers. I feel privileged to have met him and to be able to thank him personally for the incalculable amount of love and joy he brought into the world.â€

I wonder if any of the big summer blockbuster films will attach a dedication credit to Ray Harryhausen?

I could easily see it on Pacific Rim (considering del Toro's comments) or Monsters University. Harryhausen was referrenced in the first film, and I'm sure many of the Pixar animators were inspired by him.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

I could see either doing it, maybe since there's precedent with Monsters Inc that means Monsters University will be the film to do it.

Found this image while browsing. Pretty cool.

Was inspired to seek out some Harryhausen movies I don't own since his passing, and finished watching HG Wells' First Men on the Moon last night. I really enjoyed the movie. The whole Victorian theme really works. When I went in I didn't think it would. And, of course, Harryhausen's effects are great as usual.

Also picked up the bluray of Clash of the Titans. Which, while not a perfect transfer, is far better than the dvd I have.

I think First Men In The Moon is way underrated. Its one of my favorites and one of the best Wells adaptations there is, IMO. I know some people find the comedy in it obnoxious, but I think its charming.
