I really dont have any desire to see this film, I'll probably redbox it when it comes on DVD but thats about it. But I wonder if this would have been a flop[ no matter what (i.e. there just is no love for this pulp character) or is it really a matter of how it was presented?
I haven't seen the 1981 film in a long time, but I dont remember hating it. My dad actually showed me the original sereals as a kid , and I have the FILMATION Lone Ranger/Zorro cartoons on DVD. I just feel bad because i just think this is another example of a character that wasn't ready to make a big screen comeback. It may have done better on television.
It lowers my hope for a good Flash Gordon film. I know Sci-Fi movies can do very well, btu they can be disastrous as well. For all the nostalgic love I have for the 1980 film, I'd like to see a modern update (aside fom the abominable sci-fi TV series from a couple of years ago). But things like the Lone Rangers failure dont give me hope.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.
