Hmm, these comments do not surprise me....
I'd have seen this earlier, I just got in from having needles stuck in me, laid up at an outpatient center all afternoon. (ouch

)
Downloading the HD sucker right now (175 mb), so I'll know in a few minutes what you guys already know.
As far as the humor on the old show, all of it is unintentional, and you can't transpose that to a movie, the buzzing flies, the malfunctioning sets and props, the flubbed lines, but that was all forgivable considering the rushed soap opera format. And very endearing, too. None of that made you love the show any less, in fact quite the opposite. At least they took themselves seriously enough to never wink at the camera, even in the most outrageous of bloopers.
EDIT---- Okay, I just saw it.
So Barnabas saves the family and the family business. Oh, please.
The 1972 angle is fine, I guess, but they're really playing that up for big laughs ...disco balls, lava lamps, SEVEN FOOT TALL lava lamps, 70's pop, the Carpenters, one liners.... I guess it's just another take on it that will have to coexist with everything else.
Not only is everyone winking at the camera, but they're mugging at it.
(I can take Burton or leave him.....I'll watch this thing, I'll probably laugh, but it's just a diversion, nothing more.)
