I saw the third one and disliked it immensely. I'm not going to bother with this new one. I draw the line at Judgement Day. I don't think there needed to be any more.

Agreed...i dont hate the third one like alot of people but found it pointless...was just a lame remake of T2. This I'll hold judegment on till I see it myself which i plan on doing.

Kaiser...McG...is the director...same guy who directed Charlies Angels...and yes before you say it...it is odd that a grown man would be asked to be called that. If he had displayed an abundance of talent we'd say that his wanting to do that was eccentric...but instead with his current track record we are forced to use other adjectives which cannot be mentioned here....

I just got back from a press screening of TERMINATOR SALVATION. I'll try not to give anything away, but just in case...

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

The film is basically one big action sequence after another with very little time for characterization which may disappoint some people (there was some hissing from the audience during the end credits).

What works in TS's favor is that the action sequences are for the most part extremely well done (the sequence with the giant Terminator is fantastic) and fit the "war movie" theme. I was also pleased that the story is taken seriously with no punning or winking at the camera.

There are some gaps in logic, and there's one big villain cliche towards the end of the film that had me rolling my eyes, but I enjoyed TERMINATOR SALVATION quite a bit. Not as much as TERMINATOR or T2, but much, much more than the awful T3. But I am expecting viewer opinions are going to be split over this one.

Dread Central's review isn't too great either :(

http://www.dreadcentral.com/reviews/ter ... ation-2009

Even though I still haven't seen it, I can tell just by the reviews that this will be another disappointment for me... maybe having my expectations lowered will make me come out liking it more? I hope so. Everything this year has been so disappointing and middle of the road.

Hopefully Drag Me To Hell, Up, and Public Enemies will live up to their promise, because nothing has really grabbed me at all this year. Last year I loved every movie I saw in the theater except for 1 (Indy 4)... I guess I forgot how normal it is for me to be disappointed by movies these days. Last year's stream of good stuff must have been a fluke because I was starting to forget how much I hated Hollywood.

Honestly, I don't even feel like seeing this movie anymore. Everything I've read about it since the reviews came in has made me just lose interest. Inglorious Basterds is getting some brutal early reviews also (but honestly, I wasn't holding out much hope for that one. I gave up on Tarantino a while ago.)

I just read the Dread Central review and I definitely liked the movie more than they did. They did bring up one of the logic gaps I mentioned but some of their other story complaints I thought were explained in the movie.

MFW, one thing you may enjoy about SALVATION is that the story is treated seriously with none of the Schwarzenegger-style joking you didn't like in T2.

Regarding James Cameron, I've met a few people who worked for him and few of them had anything nice to say about him. (At first I wrote "none of them" but I know Bob and Denny Skotak and met Stan Winston, and they all liked Cameron a great deal.)

In his defense, McG said in an interview that--while he didn't get Cameron's blessing-- Cameron did say he understood McG's position since he (Cameron) went through the same thing when he made ALIENS... as the "PIRANHA 2 guy" he got a lot of criticism for daring to follow up Ridley Scott's ALIEN.

Reportedly, Cameron also recommend AVATAR actor Sam Worthington, who ended up co-starring in SALVATION with Bale.
