It never takes me out of the movie...it's just..unless they can come up with the name in a way that seems unnatural or, at the very least, not very laughable I don't really care. I don't feel like they aren't committing enough.

I'm gonna agree with lhb...I want more naming being used in superhero movies.

it's not that hard to come up with a way to give a character a name: He can name himself for cryin' out loud. "Who are you?" 'Call me _______'

SOME of the names MIGHT be a little goofy (Absorbing Man) but for the most part, it would not at ALL be difficult to throw out a character's name and get it to be palpable.

Fin Fang Foom is his NAME, it's not even like he has an alter-ego or anything, he's an alien for crying out loud.

It just bothers me that some of these characters have absolutely badass or awesome names and instead they get referred to as "jimmy" or whatever because that's their alter-ego name.

Obviously, for some characters, it's ok. Like The Lizard. I'm fully expecting him to be referred to as both The Lizard and Dr. Connors, because that's sort of part of his character...but c'mon, NOBODY is bothered by Ice Man routinely being called Bobby, Pyro being referred to as John, Nightcrawler never being called anything but Kurt, Whiplash never being named...I mean...COME ON these are (except for Whiplash) iconic characters with (including Whiplash) awesome names and they never get called by their names.

Anyone going to the midnight show tonight? I just picked up my ticket. Then Friday my girlfriend & I, along with my best friend and his wife & kids plus a bunch of other friends are going to the IMAX for the 3D version. Haven't been to an IMAX movie in forever, so I hope it's good... and that the 3D is an enhancement rather than a distraction. Pretty amped about this... 11 hours and counting!!!

[quote]The Hulk is the ultimate superhero for blackout drunks. An unkillable juggernaut of unfocused rage, he’s constantly waking up in craters at the end of trails of destruction, not really remembering what happened and apologizing profusely for any trouble. “Oh God I’m so sorry, I didn’t do anything terrible this time, did I? That other guy… he’s a monster.â€
