Just watched the original last night and man that movie didnt age that well. It definately has its scenes (ceiling, blood bed, coming through the wall, school dream) but the music really killed it for me. I guess as a little kid you don't notice techno music being blasted as Freddy chases people but again it is the 80s.

If the new movie would of just kept the origin of Freddy right (murderer/molester, gets caught, found innocent, town takes revenge) I'd probably prefer the new one to the old one.

My girlfriend was jumping and screamed multiple times (she scares easy lol) in the theatre but when watching the original she didn't make a peep or move.... It seems maybe people are holding the icon of Freddy to a much higher standard than what the movies actually were.

well Rap I'd say it was more of a "first of its kind" thing. My mom used to say how scary the original frankenstien was and all I saw was Herman Munster. I wonder if the original Alien is scary to someone who hasn't seen it. But yes the music is VERY 80s as is that no-name actor who played Heathers boyfriend. What happened to him?
