Im glad too. If word got out that there was a special thanks to Hideki Anno, the Eva fans WOULD NEVER LET IT GO that Pacific Rim is a ripoff of Evangelion.

That guy is dumb. If the movie bombs, there WON'T be a sequel.

How many sequels have they announced that never happened? Franchises bomb out all the time. Golden Compass? Green Lantern? Spiderwick Chronicles? A Series of Unfortunate Events? Eragon? Inkheart? Battleship? John Carter? Dredd? Those were all potential franchises that were pretty much DOA. If Pacific Rim performs as poorly as those (which is a very real possibility no matter how much we all want it to succeed), it will be another in a long list of things that didn't take off.

Not to mention, no, NOT everything is a franchise, even in genre circles. Where are the sequels to District 9, Looper, Battle Los Angeles, etc? Those are original propreties that all did good business and never got sequels...

Sounds like he's just trying to complain about Hollywood for no reason.

He even says himself that a sequel won't be greenlit until they see how the first one does, which negates every single paragraph that he wrote prior.
