My guess is that the Captain America: Civil War script has about one to three key scenes that involve a large number of costumed characters all being featured at once, such as a gathering at the United Nations HQ, a montage of news reports from around the world, or a huge third-act melee. Most of the movie will probably focus on Cap, Stark, Bucky, Crossbones, and Falcon while scenes that focus on the larger-scale Civil War taking place will give more attention to Black Widow, Black Panther, possibly Hawkeye or Fury, and now Spider-Man.

I hope there's a scene where Stark beats the holy hell out of Cap only for Falcon to come in and damage the suit to to point where Cap can beat the holy hell out of Stark. Point being I wanna see them beat the holy hell out of each other.

Variety:

Sony Pictures plans to name Tom Rothman head of its motion picture group this morning in a surprise move that follows the ouster of Amy Pascal as co-chair of the Culver City-based studio.

Comicbook.com:

here were no official specifics given, but it’s possible that Elfman is responsible for the rearranged version of “I’ve Got No Strings” that proved to be such a popular aspect of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer....Elfman did also score Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, so perhaps they’re borrowing his music from those films for a surprise scene introducing Spidey to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That would be pretty surprising if they did that, since they stated that Spidey would be popping up in 2017. But I do like Elfman's Spidey scores over what we got with ASM 1&2.

I'd love that. If they introduced Spidey in Age of Ultron. As for the Tom Rothman business, meh. As long as Kevin Feige is involved I'm cool with it.

Tom Rothman mandated that no giant characters were allowed to be shown in Fox's Marvel movies, hence why the Sentinels were only glimpsed as lit-up eyes and a decapitated head in X-Men: The Last Stand, and why Galactus was made into a giant space cloud in Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Given the current state of Sony's Spider-Man franchise and the critical juncture the studio finds itself in after this whole hacking debacle, and considering the tremendous box office success Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have brought to Disney and Paramount in the past, I would hope that Rothman would be wise enough at this point in his life to not meddle creatively in what Feige, Amy Pascal, and their eventual director and writers decide to do with Spider-Man. Hopefully he'll be more interested in making sure the studio is successful over his first few years in charge, and what's more of a guaranteed box office hit than a crowd-pleasing, bona fide MCU Spider-Man movie?

Kevin Feige being involved is the only reason, nothing can destroy my hype for this film. I have faith in that man.

Never thought Halo would be good as a movie. It should stay a game.

The new standalone “Spider-Man” movie is slated to swing into theaters on July 28, 2017.

On Thursday, Sony announced a new animated feature for the Marvel superhero from “The Lego Movie” directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The movie hits theaters July 20, 2018.

I figured Asa would get it because: 1) He's been in an F/X heavy film and therefor knows what's expected from him with regards to the hero scenes, and
2) he looks all of 12, so barring any sudden growth spurt he should be able to pull off the 'young' Peter Parker look for many years to come.

Best of luck to him.

Ender's Game sucked but I won't hold that against its actors. This is an acceptable choice.

Yes, Asa Butterfield and Tom Holland were in the mix. But who else tested?
