Welp, hopefully this happens. Hopefully they don't go nuts on changing things... The whole combining robots thing... I'm not too sure. This is obviously a more possible sequel compared too CLOVERFIELD 2.

Hm...looking at Penn's history as a writer, it's actually pretty mixed. Yeah, he wrote Elektra, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Inspector Gadget, but he ALSO wrote: Last Action Hero, X-Men 2, The Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers (Story). If Del Toro remains heavily involved in the writing process, then everything should be fine. :)

Seems like this guy NEEDS a good director and/or creative mind behind him:
Last Action Hero - John McTiernan and Shane Black
X2 - Singer.
Incredible Hulk - Ed Norton
Avengers - Joss Whedon

So, he seems like a semi-decent STORY writer, but someone who doesn't really care whether the details of his story work in the context of the pre-existing universe, and when there's nobody around to reign him back in and remind him what that universe's characters are ACTUALLY like, you wind up with an X-Men Last Stand.

Not sure about X2, but Norton and Whedon both completely rewrote the scripts for their films.

It's not like the screenwriter controls the movie. X3 certainly didn't suck solely because of Penn. It depends on the director bringing that script to life and with del Toro returning things should be on the right path.

I also have to recommend Penn's Incident at Loch Ness, his directorial debut starring Werner Herzog!

I like most of the characters of Pacific Rim.
Raleigh, Mako, Herc, Newt, Hannibal and Herman can ALL come back and I'd be excited. Are these characters that I fell in love with? Not particularly, but I'd be more than fine with seeing their adventures continue. Except Mako. I did fall in love with Mako. If she doesn't come back, I'll be sad.

Pentecost was my hands down my favorite character in the film, although i'm not sure if we should see him in the drift or not.. sometimes bringing characters back completely negates their previous arc/sacrifices/accomplishments in a way that diminishes the character.

I pretty much adored all the characters and could have spent more time with a few of them. Mako was wonderful.

I like Charlie a lot, and so did GDT, apparently, because he's in his next movie.

Well if he's coming back, then it wouldn't make sense to not have Mako. Unless they just want to totally mess with him and have her die early like his brother.

I feel like I want all of the cast that's alive to return.

I also really love that they want to go crazier.

I'm wondering that since it has a more established fanbase and Godzilla was fairly well received if Legendary thinks the sequel will have a fighting chance. Seems to be the logic behind prepping a second movie.
