Man, I really hope I end up liking this movie tomorrow..I'd hate to be going against both Jelly and Mouth on this. If they're both agreeing that it's good, that's probably a sign that I'll like it was well. I really, really hope so.

It wasn't perfect. I did enjoy it but I had a few nitpicks. I don't want to compare it to the original because I feel like movies should stand on there own and this movie does stand on its own but for the sake of showing my issues I'll compare. I feel like a little too much time was spend on the drug rehab back story and it took a little bit away from the deadites. In the original Evil Dead the supernatural elements came out right off the bat such as when the one female character was forced to sketch the Necronomicon. In ED 2013 a lot of supernatural elements are explained at first as MIA having withdrawal and I felt like it took too long for them to find out what was happening. Another pet peeve I had was some of the deadites didn't impress me. Olivia and Eric's deadites were taken out way too fast. They felt more like zombies than posessed corpses/people. The abomination also did not impress me much although I thought the abomination's death was hilarious. *edit* I also felt like the opening scene didn't really add anything to the movie. Nitpicks aside I thought the spfx were extremely well done. I also thought the cinematography was top notch. I liked Mia but thought Eric was my favorite character. If I had to give this an honest grade it would probably be a B-.

Triangle, 1408, Cloverfield, and Black Death were definitely on my original list, now that you list them...I just didn't feel like remembering it all again...
