This sets a terrible precedent and starts us down a dangerous path...honestly, where does it end? Do we pull movies featuring gay characters/actors because a right-wing religious group threatens to retaliate? Do we cancel movies featuring black actors because the KKK will burn down any theaters showing them? Do movies with a religious bent get shelved because they offend secular humanists?

I hate everything about this.

We shouldn't have to bow down and censor ourselves just because we might piss off a crazy person/group of people. Saddam Hussein was crazy, South Park still turned him into Satan's boyfriend. Putin is crazy, WWE still has a character whose sole hook is to make fun of Russia and Putin. What about our own government then? Can we no longer question any authority figures?

This is garbage, and at the earliest opportunity, I'm giving The Interview my money just to show how much I can't stand the decision to pull it.

Agreed. Sure, I thought the movie looked terrible, as is every Seth Rogen movie I've seen is, but that does not mean it is okay to not release it. If people are offended by it, they don't need to see it. If people don't want to be made fun of, don't do stupid ****.

Since they are going to do this, I demand Sony cancel the Resident Evil movies because I am offended that they are not like the games. I also want them to cancel TASM franchise because I am offended that they

So becasue of its cancellation, my Alamo Drafthouse has put Team America in its place.

I don't want to put all the blame on Sony. After all the major theater chains said the weren't going to show the film Sony felt a release wasn't economically viable for them and it would behoove them to wait for an opportunity to still make some money off of this thing... eventually.

I suppose it's up to us average Americans to make fun of Kim Jong Un on our own.

Have you ever noticed how he looks like a marshmallow?

My point is that everyone is being jerked around by this fiasco - not just Sony and theatre owners, but the media, tech security people, and (at the end of the day) us as well. I just don't think we know everything that's going on here. In spite of freedom of expression clearly being defeated (for now), I see a lot of chaos otherwise, and not much clarity.

Here's a thought: since these hackers stole several movies and uploaded them to file-sharing networks, who's to say that they won't do likewise with The Interview? They're supposed to leak some major data on Christmas Day. If that were to include the movie itself, it would effectively make everyone who's uproarious about this look stupid, not least of all Sony. It's not a scenario I'd look forward to, but it's one that's crossed my mind. It'd also go a long way toward disproving the hackers' connections to North Korea, whom you'd expect not to leak a movie that the regime hates. Guess we can only wait and see.

I know that that's the point. Look, the consequences thus far are obvious to everyone, but I am interested in the reasons for the attack, and I'm not sure that those are as obvious as they seem. And we don't exactly know how this is going to play out in the long term. I am not missing the point; I am observing it from a different angle.

The climax of The Interview has now leaked online, for those who care to see: http://youtu.be/V9u92GC9ErQ (This video will inevitably get taken down at some point.)

An interesting thing I've noticed on the internet is how non-Americans seem to have a very different attitude towards free speech. I feel like every English or Australian (to name two fellow English speaking countries) person on a comment section or message board is saying something like: 'why take the risk of making a movie with such controversial subject matter? Isn't that just asking for it?' While your average American will defend the principal of free speech even if it is in poor taste.
