From Deadline:

[quote="DOMINIC PATTEN"]
Michael Arndt has written a treatment for not just one but the next three Star Wars films coming from Disney, Deadline has learned. The Oscar-winning Little Miss Sunshine screenwriter, who also penned Toy Story 3 and the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, is also in line to work on the script for Star Wars Episode VII next year.

Arndt was brought on board by Lucasfilm months ago to put together ideas to take the franchise forward, a source with knowledge of the situation says. This was before the October 30 $4 billion sale of George Lucas’ company to Disney was finalized, The result was the “pretty extensive and detailed treatment for what would be the next three movies, the trilogy,â€

Kevin Smith has summed up exactly why the people making the new Star Wars movies should NOT be Star Wars fans...

A Boba Fett movie?

We're talking about a character whose popularity is due primarily to the fact that before he had ever been seen by audiences, he was a special mail-away figure on cereal boxes. His appeal is entirely down to his cool armor and his mystique. The more details we get about the character, the less anybody but the most hardcore of Star Wars geeks will care.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Boba Fett sucks.

There, I said it. For people not into the EU where he figures so prominently, can ANYBODY tell me why people like him so much? Besides him having a cool helmet and a cool voice (that Lucas has since replaced)?

He stands around a lot and has a comic relief death scene. WHAT A GREAT CHARACTER, LETS MAKE A WHOLE MOVIE ABOUT HIM TRAVELING THROUGH TIME.

What does Smith mean he's super popular and everyone would want to see it? Outside of uber nerds and sheltered mouth breathers, does ANYBODY give a sh*t about Fett? Enough to see that RATHER than one about Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, 3-PO, R2, etc?

Fett is a small time character and a nobody to anybody outside of super SW nerds. "OH, THEY ARE MAKING A NEW GODZILLA, LETS MAKE IT ABOUT ANGILAS, THAT'LL PACK IN THE THEATERS"

Kevin Smith is a f*cking idiot. And if his atrocious Batman comics are any indication, he has no idea how to respect other properties.

[quote="Darren Franich"]So many people are excited about the new Star Wars trilogy. Geek auteurs are excited. Boys and girls across America are excited. Harrison Ford is not entirely anti-excited. One person, however, is definitely not invested in the latest extension of George Lucas’ star-hopping franchise. At last night’s Britannia Awards at the Beverly Hilton hotel, EW asked honoree Quentin Tarantino if he was interested in the quickly-developing sequel trilogy. “I could so care less,â€
