You see, that's where I think your totally wrong. Jon Chu comes from a background of dance films like Step Up 2: The Streets and Step Up 3D, films that require extensive and intricate dance choreography. My favorite fight scenes in cinematic history are just glorified dances (i.e. Drunken Master 2). That's why I'm so excited.
Joss Whedon, however, couldn't direct (or more importantly, write) his way out of a paper bag. I'm sure 95% of the film will take place in the small confines of SHIELD headquarters, as our heroes make snarky remarks about each other's costumes. MekaGojira3k hit the nail on the head with the Destroy All Monsters comparison, but at this point I don't even care about the characters. Robert Downey Jr. has worn out his welcome, Chris Evans will be playing the annoying fish out of water character, and who gives a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" about Hawkeye?
And for the record, while I have no idea how good BATTLESHIP will be, it at least looks new and refreshing. How many fun naval warfare films are there? How many films have New York being invaded by a bunch of identical aliens? See my point.
