Nope. The current trailer uses the track "Freedom Fighters" by Two Steps from Hell, from their CD Legend. Don't look for it on Amazon though. TSfH are a duo (Nick Phoenix and Thomas J. Bergersen) that specialize in composing tracks specifically for use in movie trailers. Know it or not, you hear their stuff all the time these days. In the case of "Freedom Fighters", Paramount liked it so much that they got an exclusive license for it just to use for this trailer.

But you can hear it in all its glory .

Now, the whole Brian Tyler thing? The music used in the first two trailers sounds like "War Begins" from CoD. But actually, it's (again!) Two Steps from Hell, with a cue called "Down with the Enterprise", also from Legend. However, to say that DwtE was inspired by "War Begins" would be more than generous. There can be no doubt that TsfH were trying to reproduce the sound and spirit of "War Begins". Listen to them side by side, though, and you'll hear the differences.

for "Down With The Enterprise".

In both cases, the tracks were edited down, sweetening and drums added, etc.

Check out the sample for track 15 on this website. Courage's classic theme tune is finally back in it's entirety! To be honest, as great as Goldsmith's theme tune was, I was pretty tired of it after all the feature films and TNG:

Oh, and plans for Star Trek 12 (So Very Tired?!) are already going ahead:

I thought it was brilliant, breathtaking in its scope and its heart. I could nitpick it to death, and I don't mean "Trekkie" stuff. It had a lot it needed to accomplish, and it cut some corners to do so. It was by no means perfect, but that didn't occur to me until after it was over. While I was in the theater, I had the time of my life, more fun than I've had watching a movie in decades. And probably more fun than I've ever had watching any other Star Trek film.

BEST - I'm more than satisfied with the respect that was given to all that had come before. The approach to this reboot was genius and, for the most part, extremely well executed. Really, I didn't expect them to pull this off so well.

WORST - The entire story seemed built upon convenience and coincidence, everyone in the right place at the right time. That on top of some bad science goofs. But again, nothing that made me go d'oh! during the course of the film.

WOW - tie: The Enterprise coming out of the clouds on Titan/The Kobayashi Maru scene

Despite its weak points, I can't imagine anything topping this experience for me this year, maybe until the next Trek in 2011.

This movie rocks! Star Trek is actually fun again. I'm a big fan of TOS and TNG. I don't know about anyone else, but Star Trek really started taking itself way too seriously when shows like VOYAGER came around, and the inane technobabble to fix the problem of the week just made the shows incredibly boring to watch. With the exception of FIRST CONTACT, I thought the TNG movies were pretty lame as well.

Also, unless all the original Trek DVDs were magically erased upon this movie being released, I don't see why changes to a fictional timeline are such a big deal for some people.
