I like that monster look. Has a Harryhaussen feel to it. But I agree that it needs a tail.

I'd be fine with that being the Cloverfield monster, although that does pretty much kill the mystique of wondering what the thing looks like before seeing the movie.

It's fake. That thing was created in 2003 for a video that never was made...

If that maquette's been around for a while, what are the odds that the designer of this thing(for Cloverfield) didn't go online looking for examples of monster designs and found that himself and thought "...hmmm, that looks like a good monster, lemme "adapt" it..."

..'cause I'm willing to believe that our monster looks similar to that.

Hopefully this will put to rest to all those Cthulhu rumors:

[quote]Was the monster in the film inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu?

Matt Reeves: It was not. Here’s the thing—there’s been a lot of speculation, but J.J. has already answered the question. What really happened was that during Mission Impossible 3, J.J. took his son to Japan for the premiere. While they were there, they visited a toy store in Tokyo. They saw shelf after shelf, row after row, of Godzilla toys. Just this huge toy store filled with toys. The image was really striking to J.J. He said, “Look at this. This is like a national monster.â€

I wonder, and this is purely speculation on my part, but I wonder if JJ ever had conversations with Toho about doing this project? Not from a "Doing a Godzilla" movie per-se, but maybe with the thought that perhaps, if it were to be successful and energize that giant monster genere, that they could do a cross promotion thing like KK V Godzilla after G returns from hiatus.

I know it won't happen but I think it could be cool.

As for the parasites, I like the thought of bringing the terror down to street level as the big creature can be only in one place at any one time...granted it's a large area, but still limited. Just when you think you have escaped the big monster, here comes the fleas!!!
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

what the hell is wrong with trying to make an American monster character? Thats not a threat to Godzilla in the least. Hell Kong was created WAY back in the 30s. I'm not saying the movie will work-or wont. Theres nothing wrong with trying. I swear sometimes you guys.....
