Oh please let that be more than just press junket PR prattle. I really want some good Star Trek.

Much, much, much better trailer. Still not happy that the Enterprise is getting totaled. (Again. This is what? The third movie that's happened?) But it brings out more of the positive aspects I expect from these new Trek flicks.

The trailer was unveiled at a fan event where someone working there claimed this was a big hint of things to come:

EDIT:
Also that really looked like the NX-01, or the same class of ship, at the end of the trailer. Got me giddy:

The "new" ship is meant to be the USS Franklin, concept art for it was released earlier:

The ship reminded a few of the Loknar-class from the old FASA Trek RPG's Federation Ship Recognition Manual:

Yeah, that's pretty awesome. It feels new and exciting as well as very classic Trek movie poster at the same time. It's gotta be the rainbow effect.

Partial to this one myself, but largely just because it's aping TMP's poster. It's only an exclusive piece given out at the fan event last week--admittedly it works better as an exclusive poster.

The new trailer still isn't impressing me, but those posters look sweet.

Reviews have been pretty solid and the trailer we saw today looked quite good.

That's the villain? You know, for being a science fiction series, Star Trek is the only franchise I know where the big bad villain rulers look like second rate servants. UGH!! Come on guys, give me cool badass looking villains for a change!! Star Wars has Darth Vader. Marvel has Thanos and Apocalypse. DC has Darkseid. Star Trek's biggest, baddest villain is a hispanic man with white hair. Dafuq? :?

The sea rose as a wall of sharp spines sliced thru the surface. The water boiled and churned as fish of all species floated on their sides, dead. Godzilla, the demon god had emerged.

"look cool" is such a subjective thing.

I mean, I think Thanos in the MCU thus far looks kinda dumb, and honestly, they're "building him up" as the big bad, but all he's done so far is fail.
