You're putting words into Cameron's mouth, then hating him for it? Strange.

I think if you look back, the only people who were saying those kind of things were people like Harry from AICN, and movie fans who knew little to nothing about it other than it was a big secret project. Here's a quote from Cameron from this week's Entertainment Weekly:

[i]“If we announce Avatar 2, we made money. If we didn’t make money, we’re a bunch of dumb f—s. But we still made 2,000 jobs for three years, and that’s a good thing.â€

Up to this point. Cameron has been off of my radar screen.
I didn't care either way (good or bad) about the guy.
His films were ok. And I enjoyed them enough that I didn't feel the need to learn more about his personality while making them. And just let him do his thing.
But when you start telling the audience if you don't think my next film is groundbreaking you don't know film. It tends to grab my attention. And not in a good way.

Another thing that really urks me is the way he keeps saying he has invented groundbreaking technology for this film. But he didn't invent squat. The guy doesn't know the difference between a pixel and a toilet seat.
He just told someone what he wanted to see. Then dug out his checkbook and paid someone else who was smart enough to invent it.
George Lucas is a very technical guy and is able to hold his own in a room of engineers. But even he tends to give full credit to his tech guys for inventing things for his films when being interviewed.
At least he used to back in the old days anyway.

If Cameron doesn't get put in his place with this film. I'll be disappointed.
Weta and ILM will continue make even better looking CGI based films. So it won't be any great loss to us as viewers if this thing bombs as much as I hope it does.
