I like the Daleks in concept, but feel that their execution has mostly been rather poor. Hartnell and Troughton Daleks are generally good and entertaining. Almost everything since in the Classic series, with the exception of "Genesis", has been crap. "Day of", "Planet of", "Death to".... uggh. "Destiny" was embarrassing, and ruined Davros. I have NO idea why people at the time thought so highly of "Resurrection" and (especially) "Revelation"... double uggh. I did like McCoy's "Remembrance" (except for the crappy title), but that had more to do with the Coffin' O' Omega and the new Mystery Doctor, and not the Daleks.

Having said that, I LOVED the way RTD has brought back the Daleks. Scary? No, but heck, I'm 41. Entertaining? heck yeah. But that Sec's In the City episode reminded me of everything I used to dislike about old Dalek stories. Bring them back for no reason, stick them in a story that has no story, sit back and watch the ratings. Bleh.

One thing that annoyed me quite a bit about Daleks in Manhatten/Evolution of the Daleks was the pointlessness of the pig slaves. The Daleks already have cronies, and they're called Ogrons. The Ogrons would have fit into the story perfectly.

Sheesh. Evolution of the Daleks was even more insipid than DiM. Please let the season get back on track next week. I think these were the worst stories of the new series. Everything except special effects was a failure. Ick.

Well, the preview for The Lazarus Experiment did look promising, especially that CG scorpion-like monster...

I think I'll just see how the "Mr. Saxon" arc resolves itself without theorising. Everybody's got a valid point, though. It's just the last time I tried theorising about Doctor Who, it was with... was it with you, TheMaster, about the Emperor's voice at the end of the "Next Time" trailer for The Parting of the Ways? I was thinking it was going to be the Dalek from... well, Dalek. Shows how good I am at this speculating thing.

What is certain, though, is that 42 won't be broadcast until May 19, because the BBC will be broadcasting Eurovision the previous Saturday and that would have meant changing Doctor Who's start time again.

^ No, it was pushed back a week because of the Eurovision Song Contest...
