After watching the trailer for the new Star Trek movie, I'm kinda very iffy about the whole idea. While there are some scenes that I like, once they get onto the Enterprise then well I have a big concern about it.

I think it looks awesome. Definitely the breath of fresh air that Trek needs to continue into the 21st century. The only thing that worries me is if there's TOO much action and not enough plot.

One could always argue that Chekov was there in 2266 or at least 2267 (Season One). After all, Khan must have met him in Space Seed (Season One), because as he said in Wrath of Khan, "I never forget a face." It's not the first time this question has come up. Canon is painful.

There is a scene with a nurse. Whether or not it turns out to be Chapel, who knows. Based on what I've read, the details and pre-conceptions of who ends up where and when and how are going to get all screwy because of the time-travel plot. We also have to remember that the movie takes place over many years, even once they get to the Enterprise. So, for instance, Chekov may not be there at first, but may be there when the story jumps forward to the point where Kirk has been captain for a bit.

Although they say this is not a reboot, I think it is a reset. That way, they can pretty much say that whatever they do, it's still "canon".

If the older Spock is time traveling to save his younger self in Star Trek 11, it won't be the first time that he did that. He did that in the cartoon series episode, Yesteryear. :D

Don't know about the trailer music but I agree.

Another note of intrest...this movie has apparently been screened twice now...once in a surprise screening for an AICN crowd...overall reaction is very, very positive with everyone agreeing that this is the best Trek since Kahn with some going so far as to say it is even better than that.

I do hope they have more Sulu in a sequel if it gets made...Sulu was always awesome and John Cho is a really good actor. Glad to hear that Scotty gets his due though! Wonder if he will hook up with Uhura in this time line?
