Finally got to see this the other night when my wife rented it for us. Almost wish she hadn't. Ugh. What a trainwreck. Some of the most insultingly sophomoric "humor" yet in a Marvel film and some of the worst CGI since Phase I ended. There are moments that had me just shaking my head in disbelief; culminating in the ultra-imbecilic "Look, a baby goat!" bit. I literally almost shut it off and walked out of the living room. It seems with each succeeding entry the powers behind these films keep dumbing these movies down, making them jokier and jokier. It's like they can't wow us anymore, so to keep us coming back now they're trying to make them more funny that serious - but IMHO they are failing. Miserably. Honestly, after watching this latest entry, I think I am done with the MCU once I catch GotG 3.

The few good things about the film were the (pleasantly surprising) return of JK Simmons as JJJ, the excellent and wonderfully faithful Mysterio costume, a continually rock solid lead in Tom Holland, the nicely expanded role of MJ (and a winning performance by Zendaya) and her charming, genuine-feeling chemistry with Holland. Negatives, beyond my above comments, would include most all of the other cast members who, sadly, would've been more at home in an old episode of Saved By The Bell, and that's NOT a compliment. then there's the totally convoluted plot that was just a ?!? & WTF? and ... well, I think you get my drift. I enjoyed Homecoming more or less, but this second go-round for the MCU Spidey left me pretty disappointed. Based on this mess, I'm not looking forward to more, regardless of whether Disney & Sony work together or not. :|

got the bluray this week. this is still my second favorite Spider-man movie. Interesting plot and a nicely updated Mysterio made for a fun movie. Loved all the featurettes including that short film. A little disappointed there wasn't a commentary track though.
