I finally got around to seeing this. I knew it was going to be quirky coming from Bong, but I didn't expect it to be so violent and grim. It really feels like an anti-Hollywood blockbuster in a lot of ways, although the shaky cam actions scenes sort of betray this feel at times. So this certainly isn't a rousing Guardians of the Galaxy type of experience. I imagine if I had seen this with a packed audience it would have been very uncomfortable.
I did enjoy the movie, the separate societies on the train were both beautifully and eerily brought to life and I'm definitely going to give it another watch sometime soon. The only Bong film I've yet to see is his directorial debut Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000).
