It came and went from theaters and I missed it, so I've been watching the schedules of the local second-run theaters like a hawk for the past two months - and finally: Cloud Atlas comes to your local dollar theater this weekend!

I never posted my thoughts here when I finally managed to catch this at the dollar theaters (I loved it) but I just watched it again for the first time on blu-ray and now I love it even more. It's such a bizarre movie. It's amazing it works at all but it really works.
My single complaint is the lack of a leading Asian male actor. I don't mind the yellowface makeups in this film at all because ALL the actors are race and genderbent multiple times throughout the film but it was really weird to see ALL the main Asian male parts played by white guys in yellowface. Just one guy would have remedied this and made it feel just a little more honest, I guess. It's a minor quibble on the whole, given how important Bae Doo-na is to the story.
