80 Years of King Kong!

Next month marks the 80th anniversary of the other king of the monsters. Howsabout a talkback for each Kong film over two months - a film for each week?

Mighty Joe Young (okay, not Kong, but I feel it has to be here)

Now we just have to come up with a title for the celebration: Kongebration? Kong-a-thon? Kongiversary?

Sweet. I've been wanting to watch Kong '33 on my big tv since I got it a year ago & just never got around to it. Maybe this'll give me some motivation. And maybe I'll finally watch the '77 remake in its entirety since its been sitting in my Netflix cue for ages...

In the 1970s, I had been watching "King Kong" on T.V. and was quite familiar with it. However, when my parents took me to see "Godzilla vs. Megalon" in the theater (in 1976), it was playing on a double-bill with the original Kong. What I saw, I couldn't believe. It was the unedited version where Kong was chewing people to death, stomping on them and dropping that poor woman from the building after he thought that was Ann. It was both unnerving and cool at the same time, if such a thing is possible. And I’ve been fortunate enough to see it on the big screen three times!

And if we ARE doing this, should we include the Mighty Joe remake and the awful animated Kong musical?
