Jim Starlin's sci-fi epic Dreadstar is headed for the big screen. http://www.superherohype.com/news/29773 ... -big-scree

Dreadstar has all the qualities you expect from Jim Starlin, galaxy spanning adventures with both science and magic playing a role. Originally from the Milky Way galaxy, the titular hero, Vanth Dreadstar, finds himself and his awesomely powerful mystic sword transported to the Empirical galaxy after his home galaxy is destroyed. He ends up involved in a galactic war between two superpowers, the Monarchy, and the Church of the Instrumentality. His allies, an apostate Church mystic, a blind telepath, a Cat-man, and a smuggler.

This is one of the great comics of the 80's. Originally a Marvel property through the Epic label, Starlin moved to First Comics with it for the majority of it's run. If done right, it could be a fantastic movie franchise. Dreadstar is Jim Starlin's favorite creation, and he has turned down offers before to bring this character to film. So hopefully this will be epic. :D

Now if only someone will bring to screen Grimjack, Nexus, and Dynamo Joe....
