Hogan's Heroes and ALF could make have some good movie adaptations. Trouble is, TV-movie adaptions seem to be forever botched by the studios. Sure there are some better adaptations but most seem to come out of left field.

 Yeah -- The Beverly Hillbillies was bad too. It's like the whomever was responsible for it had reviewed just enough of the tv series to get the gist of it -- but not so much that they could actually do a proper job of adapting the series.

Dragnet -- they took a classic crime-drama series and turned it into a comedy, I saw the movie once and that was more than enough.

Car 54, Where are You? -- the movie was utterly forgettable, I'm not sure that many people are even aware of the movie. I don't believe I've ever seen it on television either.

Suprisingly, The Addams Family wasn't as bad as one would expect. But I don't think it quite captures the essence of the classic tv series. The The New Addams Family tv series that ran from 1998 to 2000 or so did a much better job of capturing the classic series without outright aping it.

Clearly what this movie needs is Will Ferrell.

I actually thought Get Smart was a really well done adaptation. Then again it shouldn't be that hard to make a campy gag comedy translate to the big screen.
